Salvaged Bricks
Our salvaged bricks are from Tuscany, Northern Italy and the Marche region on the Adriatic coast. These century old “mattoni” often vary in size and color according to the geological characteristics of the local clay quarries and to the traditional dimensional standards of the area (region). Tones range from earthy pink to talc-ochre. All bricks and tiles were fired in wood burning kilns and set only with natural lime mortar as Portland cement was introduced to Italy only after 1920. The rich color and incomparable texture of reclaimed brick add that essential country charm to your project. Sourced from the demolition of ancient farmhouses and old barns, the reclaimed bricks are hauled to our warehouse where they are cleaned by hand, selected and then placed on palettes. We personally select our bricks and supervise crating for shipping. We offer first quality bricks and also a second quality appropriate for walls and field areas.
